OVER 35 YEARS EXPERIENCE
If we work together by understanding that every individual has a very unique style of swinging the golf club. With my knowledge and experience we will find a solution to help you leave the lesson feeling good about the changes and have belief that you can take them on to the golf course and see the improvement.
I qualified as a PGA Golf Professional in 1991, having trained at Littlehampton Golf Club and Effingham Park Golf Club.
During this time I have been the Head PGA Professional at Effingham Park Golf Club, West Sussex and Pease Pottage Driving Range, Crawley and most recently the Golf Operations Manager at Chartham Park Golf Club, West Sussex.
In May 2024 I decided to follow my instinct / heart and commit to a full time business of coaching players and other PGA Related Golf Services including a Club Repair Service. I am based at Chartham Park Golf Club, West Sussex, which has fantastic facilities.
For the past 33 years I have coached beginners all the way to elite players, I find coaching the most enjoyable and rewarding part of being a PGA Golf Professional. With 33 years of experience to draw from, pupils are in safe hands.
My belief on coaching is that the time spent together will need to be a team effort, ” if we work together by understanding that every individual has very unique styles of swinging the golf club, with my knowledge we will find a solution to help the pupil leave the lesson feeling good about the changes and belief that they can take these on to the golf course to see the improvement”.
Using up to date video analysis from the Sky Trac Lauch Monitor and the Visio range of putting aids from the renowned putting coach Phil Kenyon, pupils will come away from each lesson with plenty of information about their strengths and weaknesses.
Outside of Coaching, I have been married to Julie for 30 years, have 2 wonderful sons Gregory and Kieran. I am also the current Chairman of the Sussex Professional Golfers Union.
TESTIMONIALS
I took up golf in 2019 at the age of 60 and despite having some lessons with some of the Club’s then teaching pro’s, we never really connected – rather like my attempts to consistently hit a golf ball.
However when Mark joined Chartham in 2022. I took the opportunity to come under his tutorage and the transformation of my ball-striking, choice of club usage and understanding of golf was truly game-changing. From the outset Mark took the time to understand my goals, my probable age limitations and to aim to move me from a position of frustration on the course to one of enjoyment at the shots I could now achieve.
At the first lesson I said to him “you need to regard me as a bundle of dried washing that needs a good ironing” but after watching me try and hit some balls he replied “I think we need to put you back in the washing machine”. I knew instantly we were going to hit it off and from that point he has built my game: grip, stance, swing, ball position, club choice.
All of my golfing partners comment of the ongoing improvement in my game and ask who is coaching me? Mark is additionally extremely personable and I thoroughly enjoy his company – both professionally and socially. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mark as a golf coach who exhibits perfect empathy with his pupils – regardless of age, experience or ability
Returning to clubgolf after a break of 15 years was a scary prospect, so I booked some lessons. From the outset, Mark pitched his instruction at the right level for me.
He focussed on one thing at a time, describing and demonstrating concepts clearly, without any confusing jargon.
As an instructor, Mark is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, encouraging and patient, so I found lessons interesting, confidence-building and fun!
With regular sessions on the range, chipping and putting greens and also on the course, my handicap dropped by 9 strokes in 5 months.
Now working on the next 9…
Mark’s passion for golf is evident in his approach to his teaching. He adapts to my style rather than adopting a one size fits all method which has benefited my game massively.
He never finishes a lesson until he is sure I am confident in moving on with what we have learned that day. I am now enjoying my game again which is an important part of my life. Thanks Mark.
Mark was recommended to me by a very good friend of mine who is a good golfer. He alluded that Mark was great at working with golfers’ existing swing mechanics who didn’t want game changing changes.
Over the last 3 years Mark has helped me maintain my scratch handicap status and I plan to continue using Mark for the foreseeable future, 10/10.
